This tune came in 3rd in German DJ Sharam Jey's own Beatport chart. Tired of DJ sets? Catch Alex Metric's live show in Bristol on the 22nd and London on the 28th. Cicada - One Beat Away (Arno Cost Mix)
December 2009 saw the French maestro Arno Cost go totally epic with his remix of the UK electronica band's yet-to-be-released single. Tiesto's been hammering this one the whole winter (as you can see in numerous YouTube videos) while the track's also been a hit on the airwaves and podcasts. When he's not producing killer remixes or DJing to fanatic crowds Arno spends much of his time updating Twitter, it seems. You can follow him here.

NEWS: The Future's Bright
For electronic music at least, the future's bright. According to a BBC News article today summing up 2009's popularity for electro-pop acts 2010 is set to continue this trend. Yes, they may be talking pop but as we know, these days the rule of the 'big four' record companies is diminishing and independent artists have just as much chance of making the Charts as anyone else.
"Electro-pop will continue to dominate, judging by the 15 acts on the longlist for the BBC Sound of 2010.."
2009 saw both pop and hip hop largely influenced by house music - right now Lady GaGa's Bad Romance (produced by 'Best Dance Recording' Grammy Award nominee, Red One) tops the charts. The influence these tunes has on the general public will only grow their enthusiasm for electronic music and should provide easier access for house music artists to reach out to more people than ever before. Like the article says, the future's bright!

Eddie Amador - House Music (Filterheadz Remix)
We start the year with this, a 2003 remix of a well-respected classic. It ain't so new now but it shows just how far we've come since the evolution of Disco, the dawn of affordable home-recording equipment and those all too memorable warehouse raves. If the last few decades of house are anything to go by, the next one's going to be up there with the best..
