NEWS: Amsterdam Dance Event Announces 2010 Dates

The biggest electronic music business festival has announced its dates for 2010. The conference will last between the 20th and 23rd of October and will feature the majority of last year's participants as well as many new comers. The first event was held in 1995 making this year's event a 15th anniversary special! Tickets start at €230 for a four-day pass if you register before May 1st. NEWS: Paris Clubs Enjoy Extended Licence

Club owners and clubbers alike are to enjoy later parties in the city of love this year, after government officials extended Paris' late-night licence from 4am to 7am. After a petition signed by 12,000 bar and club owners warning the city was becoming the "capital of sleep" it seems those officials took notice. Paris currently enjoys a huge electro scene that is only to get bigger now the parties can go on all night!

NEWS: Deadmau5 Wants Fans' Tattoo Designs

Never one to shy away from the lime light, house music's biggest rock-star Deadmau5 has opted for another tattoo. This time he's calling to fans who have the star's own image on their skin to submit designs for his next tattoo. Broadcasting his latest idea via Facebook the Canadian had this to say,

"..for every one of you crazy fans I love so much that have Deadmau5 tattoos, I'm going to give you a square inch or something like that for you to design me something. Then I'll eventually compile them all and get a full sleeve done.."

NEWS: The Future's Bright

For electronic music at least, the future's bright. According to a BBC News article today summing up 2009's popularity for electro-pop acts 2010 is set to continue this trend. Yes, they may be talking pop but as we know, these days the rule of the 'big four' record companies is diminishing and independent artists have just as much chance of making the Charts as anyone else.

"Electro-pop will continue to dominate, judging by the 15 acts on the longlist for the BBC Sound of 2010.."
2009 saw both pop and hip hop largely influenced by house music - right now Lady GaGa's Bad Romance (produced by 'Best Dance Recording' Grammy Award nominee, Red One) tops the charts. The influence these tunes has on the general public will only grow their enthusiasm for electronic music and should provide easier access for house music artists to reach out to more people than ever before. Like the article says, the future's bright!

NEWS: Morillo charged with drug possession..

Superstar DJ, Erick Morillo was arrested at Glasgow airport over the weekend when disembarking a flight from Amsterdam. Charged with possession of cocaine, Morillo was taken to the local police station where he spent the night in a cell before appearing before a magistrates' court. The DJ pleaded 'not guilty' and was subsequently released on bail. The trial continues in March.

The duo responsible for what was probably radio's most popular talk-bed music ever, Eple are celebrating the ten year anniversary of forming as a group. The two Norwegians, Torbjorn Brundtland and Svein Berge have released a new single to celebrate entitled Happy Birthday. NEWS: Deadmau5 headlines Groove Cruise 2009

For the last five years, The Groove Cruise has taken to the seas as 'chic, young professionals' let their hair down and party non-stop for 3-4 days. In the past DJs have been mostly club-residents but this year the party is going one better as they invite the ever-popular Deadmau5 on board to work the decks. The Canadian who rose to fame in 2008 will be boarding the ship in January '09 as they set sail from the coast of Miami out to the Bahamas via an exclusive private island, of course. NEWS: Tong searches for talent

Radio 1 presenter and DJ, Pete Tong starts his two week tour of North America next Tuesday and this time he's talent scouting too. UK superstar, Tong is looking for undiscovered producers to make a name for themselves by handing him their demos at his gigs for him to review and play in his upcoming shows.

“I always get given lots of music when I tour USA and Canada so I thought this time we would make it more official.”

Those who are good enough to impress the DJ can look forward to seeing their track released on Tong's soon-to-be digital label available at beatport.com.

Technical Issues: Resolved!

Sorry for the delay, due to a PC error we were left in a bit of a pickle! The bad news is the Filthy Weekend wasn't the weekend it should have been. The good news is we're back up and running and planning to continue our weekend on the 16th-17th August. Until then, we will continue as normal. Thanks for staying with us guys and gals! :)
